ambition: A NYC Based Clothing Brand
ambition is a NYC based lifestyle and clothing brand started with the intention of connecting with people who have a similar outlook on the world around them. People who are determined to make something of themselves no matter how much of an uphill battle it may be.
The Mission
Everyone has goals and aspirations, they're a dime a dozen. Actually executing on them to make them a reality is the hard part, and that’s where many fall short. This is where ambition comes into play. Having the will and determination to actually put in the work required to reach those goals is a different animal entirely. Nothing happens overnight, and the road to success it not a short one. It is a journey that will never fail to challenge, frustrate, educate, and mold you into a better version of yourself if you let it. Don't shy away from controversy. The more you seek the uncomfortable, the more you will become comfortable.
The Foundation
The idea for this brand came to me in March of 2020, back in the early stages of quarantine. Starting my own clothing line has always been a goal of mine, and one that I found myself constantly putting off due to the fear of failure. I have always taken an interest in fashion and known that one day I wanted to start my own brand. But what would it be? What would it stand for? What do people like? What would they buy? And then it hit me. I couldn’t let the fear of failure stop me from pursuing a goal. Instead, I needed to let it fuel my mentality to constantly be learning and evolving as a person, and to translate that into what this brand would be all about. I set out to Create a brand that stands for constant hard work and determination. Never be satisfied with the status quo. I aim to consistently remind myself and others that if you want something bad enough, don't let anything, including yourself, stand in the way of achieving it.
I grew up in a small town in upstate New York. I love my hometown and always will, but I knew it wasn't where I wanted to live my life. I always wanted to be exposed to more and have different opportunities than what my area had to offer. Moving to New York City was always a goal of mine, and something I saw myself doing after college. Other than graduating from college, moving to the city was my first lofty goal that I set for myself in life. My family and I have always been close, both geographically and relationship wise. They were not thrilled with my goal of moving away but understood that I had to pursue my goals in life in order to grow as a young man. I went away to school, graduated, came back home saved up for year or so until I had enough money in the bank to make the move a reality. I then began applying to jobs in Manhattan in advertising (I graduated from college with a degree in Digital Media). I landed a job at a mid - sized advertising agency and couldn't have been more thrilled. My dreams were slowly becoming reality. This is when the idea of ambition really started to sink in with me. I had a goal. I put together a plan on how to make a reality. And then I began to execute on that plan by saving up money and applying for jobs that would both fulfill me and allow me to move to and work in the city that I always wanted to be in.
